Simple summer vignette with what I have at home

I’m totally in that summer feel now and can’t get enough of cottage feel, airy rooms and light and bright spaces! But, I don’t want to be spending a whole lot either, so today I’ll show you a simple summer vignette with what I have at home .

I love love love decorating that cabinet top, as I don’t have many pieces of furniture around to load up with decor. Also, I don’t like it too full, I love it airy and simple and my motto always: less is more! You gotta know when to stop! So the other day I really felt like giving this a quick update, it’s summer ya’ll, so yay, I wanted some summer vibe up there and used what I found at home!

I always collect empty jars for all kinds of stuff, so now these came in perfect for holding little white stones I still had from making our fairy garden a while back. Previously I also used them and the faux succulent & fern for my quick Ikea lantern update.

The milk bottles I used, where painted a while back and now fitted perfectly with the theme. I purchased the wooden bird years ago in Canada in the clearance section for around $4. Love it since!

My sister in law made this platter you can see leaning against the place mat. It’s lovely and like this it gets some exposure! The bambu placemat adds extra summer feel and is a nice change and really brings out the platter against the all white background I think!

In case you’d like to make a summer vignette yourself and liked what I used, I found similar items below. Just click on the photo and it’ll lead you to where you need to be to get it.

As you can see, all these bits and pieces I used for my simple summer vignette, had been used in different projects and for different deco’s before, so sometimes it’s really great to have a few basics to work with and get the most out of them!

Thanks so much for visiting the blog today!

Katrin, you have such an eye and talent for great decor! I love that bird, and it’s only $9 on your link and that milk bottle is screaming my name! I love the way it all looks together. So calm and full of natural elements. Your sister in law did a great job with the tray and it looks great against the woven mat!

BTW, love the new font! It pairs nicely with the script font you are using!

What a lovely set up. I hope summer is on it’s way soon. It’s not very warm here and it keeps raining. Maybe your vignette will help.

Your decor is lovely. I love when one can reuse what is already in the home in a new space or in a different way. It’s so fun to mix things up.

Katrin, this summer vignette is beautiful!! I love light and airy too and you did such a great job pulling all the pieces together to create a lovely display. Love the platter your sister in law made and the mat behind it gives the vignette a nice warm texture. I also love all the jars; I have way too many jars right now so you have given me some good ideas on what to do with them, so thank you!!

Katrin, what a lovely vignette! You have a real creative eye for decor. Every thing that I’ve seen is lovely. I love how you are able to reuse things by mixing it up with different things. I love how you did the bottles and the little jars with the rocks and succulents, and added the pretty little platter. Oh love the bird too!

This vignette is so summery and delightfully simple using things you already own- I’m all about that too! I’m intrigued by the beautiful cabinet, especially the doors. Also love that platter, how wonderful that it was made for you. Thank-you for this sweet post- as always.

Did you use a special paint to make the stripes on the glass bottles? Or was it just a regular metallic acrylic? I love the tropical-airy feel of this vignette.

Katrin whaat a beautiful vignette. I like how you placed the place mat behind your sister in laws platter and it really makes it pop and stand out much more. And it deserved to be highlighted it is soooo pretty and the perfect summery piece. I also collect rocks… lol, in fact I have to go out and find some more. I’m sure regular folks won’t understand our obsession with rocks.
