Simple Spring Cabinet Top

Hi guys! I’d love to share this simple spring cabinet top today! Hope you’ve all had a nice Valentine’s Day, so why not keep up the deco a little longer with a hint of spring as well?

So I thought, I’d stop by today to show you my simple spring cabinet top that is looking a lot like spring already! I know, it’s only the middle of February, but living in Spain, for me it’s already spring, big time! I mean, don’t blame me, it’s sunny every day here, and the temps are almost in the 20’s, so why not!

The other day I went out to get some fresh, green succulents and aloe to decorate my home with. I was in such a spring mood! My favourite spot to decorate in the living room is my cabinet top! I don’t have a fireplace mantel, this is almost like one for me.  I used everything I had at home already, except the succulent. I don’t know if you remember, but this crate used to hold branches and sticks for my Christmas & Winter deco. Now I’ve emptied it out, but kept a few of the nicer branches.

I grabbed the crate and turned it sideways to put the little succulent inside ( I made that pot some years back in a pottery class). Then I just picked out some green and pinkish pom poms and poked them on the branches. They look like little blossoms, hey?

And you already know my baking tin signI really like the pink touch on top of the white cabinet! The wooden bird was a clearance item I found a few years back at Home Sense for $4!

Katrin, I love the way you decorate your cabinet top as if its a mantle. It looks clean, fresh and spring ready. Perhaps that’s what I need to do, decorate for spring to urge it on faster. I love your home it’s so clean and cheerful, a great place to curl up with a cup of coffee and just breathe.

Hi Katrin – I agree with Mary – sometimes all you need is a good eye – and you definitely have that! Great decorating idea!

Hello Katrin, I do love your cabinet top. Putting those pom poms on the branches was sheer brilliance. I’m pretty sure I’ll be borrowing that idea in the near future. The crate with the plant and bird, and of course your tin sign, is your signature simple and classic style. Well done.
With your temperatures, no wonder you’re in the spring mode. Our temp was -7 C this a.m., so I’m still in the fuzzy blanket mode. But it’s supposed to get to 17 C this weekend, so I will automatically shift to spring.
Did not watch WD last night…maybe later today.

    Hugs, Lynn

Actually temps really changed this week, it’s soooo cold all of a sudden, oh my! At least I have my spring cabinet top to look at, lol! Hopefully we’ll be back to warmer temps soon! Thanks for stopping by, Lynn! Last night it got late and at the end I didn’t watch WD!

You’re right those pom poms look like blossoms that make their appearance in spring!! That bird is super cute, and what a deal you got on him!!! Of course, love the baking tin sign!! It all looks so lovely and fresh!!!

I like very much how it looks, Katrin!! I don’t know why I don’t place things on top of the cabinets, but every time we go to visit our US friends and I see how lovely they look, I try to remember to do the same when I reach home. Now it will be easier to remember 🙂

Thanks Pili! I don’t have many spots to decorate in my living room, so I like using the cabinet top for it! Happy you like it 🙂

Beautiful Vignette Katrin! I love the rustic look of the pieces. The bird is gorgeous! And the clay pot is so pretty painted white like that, you did a fantastic job. They all come together perfectly! Sometimes all you need is to have a good eye for how to put things together, that is the true mark of a creative decorating mind and not how much money you spend on your decor.

Mary, I agree! Not much money needed, to make something look pretty and change it up, depending on the season! Thanks for your words 🙂 happy monday!
