A rustic weekend getaway

Last Friday after work, we packed our bags and drove to the nearby mountains! It was a rustic weekend getaway and much needed y’all!

We did actually plan this trip a bit in advance, so the bags were all packed and ready to go when I came home from work, lol. I’m not that spontaneous I think! We went with two more families, who are really good friends of ours and have two kids each as well. Win Win, happy kids = happy parents!

The rural house we rented is located in the nearby mountains, only about an hour and a half away from home, which is really convenient, since neither of us was up to driving for too long. The weather was great, but that’s not new here in the South of Spain, where we are. The sky is always like this, no photoshop, it’s real!

The house was completely renovated, it used to be a stable and barn and the owners converted it into a lovely holiday rental! They left lots of original features and made it really rustic with lots of different styles of decor and it is a wonderful place to spend the weekend for sure! We were literally in the middle of nowhere, we went hiking, exploring, there was a small river behind the house, so you can imagine the kids being just happy with that and with being out in nature all day long.

We actually had a fire on in the fireplace, the house was equipped with both central heating and air conditioning, but when we arrived it was chilly and we all felt like sitting by the fireplace. I snapped most of these photos right when we arrived, and believe me, it didn’t look like this after three families of four had moved in, lol!

The house had 5 bedrooms in total with 6 bathrooms, a library, three living areas and a huge open concept kitchen I didn’t take photos of, how could I have forgotten that! I’m showing you a few only, lol, this post would be endless, so these were my favourite parts of the house.

I hope you enjoyed these photos and yes, i’d definitely go back and stay longer than a weekend here!

Katrin, good for you! This year you have had a big change, a great change, but getting used to a new schedule is rough on anyone. Having time away, to relax and just hang out sounds like the perfect weekend.

The house is gorgeous, and so is the setting. Just look at those blue skies! I bet the girls loved it too. I have a feeling that we will be seeing more of this rustic home in the future! Building great family memories is so precious.

I tried to post a comment earlier, but I somehow lost it- again! I went on and on about this spectacular house!! I will try to remember all my ramblings, so bear with me. I love that woven set of furniture; I have white wicker, but this is even better. This must have been the best getaway ever, so much natural beauty outdoors and indoors too. I would have standing reservations to return again and again. Please- when you return take photos of the kitchen, I would love to see that space. Thank-you for sharing this perfectly divine rustic getaway!

Katrin what a beautiful house. I cannot believe it was once a barn. It must have been a big barn in order for them to be able to have carved out all of those bedrooms. So many lovely details, especially the nooks and crannies they have built into the walls. I hope you get a chance to go back soon and take some more pictures.

It’s wonderful that you got to make a little trip over the weekend, Katrin. The owners did a great job restoring the barn and turning it into a holiday home. It has lots of rustic charm. I can imagine that the kids had fun playing at the river. The night sky must have been amazing in such a low densely populated area. I hope you could recharge your batteries a little bit and your week is going well.
    Liebe Grüße
