66 In My Home

My outdoor space part 1

Today I’m finally revealing my outdoor space! Between lots of rain and finding the right way to have shade on the patio and all, it took me a bit to get it all up and ready!

My outdoor space part one kreativk.net

Our house has a back patio and an area covered with grass, where we have the pool and the trampoline. The rest is all paved and the front patio is all closed in as well. In Spain, houses aren’t as open as in North America. If you drive by our house on the street, you can’t see the porch and front patio at all, it’s all closed in and very private. I can’t really decide, what I like better. I used to like our open front in Canada and how it looked, yet we only always used the porch, not really the grass area in the front, cause we preferred more privacy. Here, on our street, it looks pretty boring, all fronts are kinda the same, as they are all closed in with walls, but I must say, we do enjoy every single square meter we have, it’s all private and we like that. You open the door to our property and then there is the front patio which I will be showing another time, and from there you go in and around the house. Today I’m showing you our back terrace.

This is how it looks when you step out the living room doors. I bought this sofa last summer and we love it and relax on it all the time. You can see my painted pillows on it and I like how it looks!

My outdoor space part 1/kreativk.net

Attention, bunny photo bomb! He just has to be everywhere!

I hung curtains around the terrace to have shade, it gets so hot and like this it stays at least a bit cooler…plus I like how it looks and the summerly feel that comes with it…

My outdoor space part 1/kreativk.net

In the back you can also see my little table that I gave a new look for my nephew the other day. Out here is the perfect spot to be creative I think!

Here I used the two pallets I still had laying around. I gave them a good cleaning and just got a thick seating cushion for the top. I must admit, I was too lazy to do anything fancy with the pallets, this was the easiest way to use them right now. It’s actually comfy and the girls like to hang out there. I made the two plant stands and it gives it a bit of a frame….[and I know where to put down my glass of wine when we sit there at night] 😉

I’m really lovin’ all the blue and white accents this summer.

Your outdoor space is so inspiring – I love the blues and grays. The use of those pallets was simple, but looks like a good cozening spot for the girls – I can see why they like it!

I knew it would be gorgeous! I’ve been patiently, or not so patiently, waiting for your reveal! It’s a lovely place to hang out and relax with the whole family. That outdoor couch certainly would be a great place to take an afternoon nap and watch the curtains flutter in the breeze. I love all the blue and white accents, and the tins filled with greenery! No wonder the bunny likes hanging out! I would too! xx

What a lovely space and I just really love the curtains outside. Think I’m going to do something similar to a small outdoor area we have as well. What type of fabric did you use?
And I ❤ that photo bombing bunny! I’d love one, but my mean evil cat makes that impossible. 😢 Butt I do think Flora would love to have a bunny to snuggle with.
I am sure that you are loving that sectional sofa…what a great piece.
All in all a lovely patio that I can imagine your family spending many enjoyable hours in.
    Thanks for sharing friend.
    Hugs, Lynn

Aw Thank you Lynn! The curtains are from Ikea, they are linen and really nice and give nice shade as well! These bunnies bring us all a lot of joy, they are so funny! I’m sure Flora would love a bunny friend :), and maybe your cat too, if you got a baby bunny? Not sure about cats though…. 🙂

    02/06/2016 at 21:05

Great space! We do not use our back deck and I have decided its because there is not a comfortable seat there. There are seats but I want somewhere to lounge and your sofa looks like what I need! I have been shopping for one but haven’t found THE one yet. And I like the gray color of yours. I had not considered gray before but I think I am leaning that way now. Now. If you will just let me come try yours out for size…. 🙂 gwingal

    • Katrin
      03/06/2016 at 07:58

Yeah, come on over and try it out, lol! I do love that comfy sofa there and it makes such a big difference. Before we always had the outdoor dining table there, but we would never sit at it, except to eat of course. So this sofa was the right buy to be able to lounge and enjoy! Also, gray is great for outside as you don’t see stains right away, even though the covers come off for washing. Thanks so much for stopping by Nikki!

This is lovely! The wood pallets are something I also used on a porch of a former home as a table. I love the rustic look of them and my son has since repurposed them for his beach house. I really love those curtains, they look so soft and cooling. The colors and textures in your outdoor space are so beautiful, all very pleasing to the senses. Thank-you for the tour and love hearing about Spain. Question- are the bunnies real?

    • Katrin
      01/06/2016 at 20:16

I’m happy you like my outdoor space Ellen! It is a relaxing spot to be and yes, the bunnies are real, lol! They are always getting their little noses into everything I do out there, so when I took the photos they had to be there too! Spain is hot right now, yesterday the temps climbed up to the 30’s already and it’s so nice! Thanks so much for your visit!! Have a great day!

You have a great space there, Katrin! I would love to have some privacy. Even though only a few families live up the hill on our little bumpy road, there always seems to walk or drive someone by when I’m out in the garden or on the balcony. Your gray wicker furniture is gorgeous. The pallet bed looks quite comfy and I would take a siesta there anytime. 🙂 Your bunnies are so cute!

Hahaha, yes those bunnies are always photo bombing everything, they just have to get in the middle of things. it is definitely our favourite hangout in the summer, especially since we don’t have a family room, just living room, so this extra space is wonderful to have! Thanks for stopping by friend 🙂

Beautiful space Katrin! I love all of the little quirky details. The driftwood art on top of your pallet immediately caught my eye as did the cute pom pom garland on the curtains. And all those pretty blue and white accents really make it pretty and relaxing. I’m coming over to hang out with your bunny! 😉
