Oh don´t you just love the deconstructed style? Maybe you don´t, that´s ok! If you do though, and like me, do not want to rip off the upholstery of your chairs and sofa just yet, but get a little bit of that look anyways, keep on reading! I mean, don´t get me wrong, I won´t show you how to get the deconstructed style from an Ikea sofa, …. but I will show you how to make an easy deconstructed style sign for your walls! Using reversed canvas. Yep, just that! It is seriously so easy and gives you the whole beautiful non-perfect charming look.

How To Make An Easy Deconstructed Style Sign

Remember my reversed canvas stair case wall? I just loved the look of those reversed canvases so much that I now made this easy sign for the bedroom. It brings a warm rustic and charming vibe to a little cozy corner I haven´t really shown here on the blog yet.

What you will need:

canvas panel, old or new

sharpie

pencil

your favourite quote or this one if you like it, download it for free here

2 screw eyes

a string of twine to hang it up on the wall

Note: If you buy a new canvas, more than likely you´ll be able to just stick the print out on a window and hold the canvas against it and trace the letters as they´ll be visible. My canvas is an old, previously painted one, so I couldn´t use that technique.

I did it this way, except for the chalk used in that project, I used pencil. But the technique is the same and works quite well.

I´ve added two little screw eyes to the back [that used to be the front 😉 ] and pulled a string through to easily hang it on the wall.

Katrin, I love the deconstructed look, but like you, I’m not sure I’m ready to rip the upholstery off my furniture. This is such a great way to get the look without having to commit to such a big statement piece as a chair or couch. Love this wall art!! Wonderful job!!!

Stay in bed is what I wanted to do today. I love this look and I’ll have to take another look downstairs for my hubby’s canvases.

Your reversed canvas looks great, Katrin! You chose pretty fonts for the text. That is a very cozy corner in your home. I love the rug, the pumpkin pillow, the wallpaper or stenceling, and everything else as well.
Thank you for your kind words on the death of our kittens and the well wishes for Cosmo. Thankfully he’s doing great. 🙂

I love the simplicity and rustic beauty of this look Katrin. I don’t know if I could live with deconstructed furniture but this look on a limited basis is perfect!

Yes, I think it can get too much, but here and there on the wall it´s kind of fun. Although I should stop right now with these, lol!

You are a kreative genius! Loving this novel idea for my oldest daughter’s bedroom, though she needs no encouragement to stay in bed. She will adore this on her wall and it fits with her decor too. Thank -you for sharing an easy, yet beautiful craft! P.S. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pumpkin pillow!

Aw Thank you Ellen, I´m glad you like it, I can´t get enough of these and am turning around all of the canvases I can find, lol. Makes room in my already too small craft room! The pumpkin pillow is gorgeous, right? It´s from Lucy at Craftberry Bush, you probably know her site, just beautiful!

I just love that sign Katrin. Just perfect for today since it looks like it’s going to rain and the best place would be in bed with a good book 😉 Hope you have a wonderful week
