How to turn plastic Dollar store pumpkins into gold speckled mini pumpkins for Halloween.
I can’t say it enough, but Happy Fall y’all! With Fall, the for me most wonderful time of the year begins all the way until into the new year. Like, who doesn’t enjoy pumpkin spice everything and cold rainy & foggy days where you can have a million little lights all around the house and hygge til you drop!
Now it is really time to bring out all that Fall decor and start thinking about Halloween as well. Maybe you remember from past Halloween posts that here where I live there is not a huge Halloween feel in the air, but we still love it and I enjoy decorating for it a lot! So much fun!
So I was so happy, when Sam from Raggedy Bits invited me to her annual 5 day Halloween challenge! I mean, what could possibly be better than 5 straight days of Halloween inspiration???

What you need:
mini plastic pumpkins from the dollar store or these
1. Prepare your surface, preferably outside, with a dropcloth or old towels. Spray paint your mini pumpkins black all over. Let dry.
My pumpkins had been painted last year as you can see. Now they got a dramatic makeover!
Black just gives everything an instant Halloween feel, right??
They have a metallic look on the photo, that’s because I took it when they were still wet. They actually have a matte finish once they’re dry.
And here’s the trick to get the speckled look: Just shake the gold spray paint a little bit, not too much. Press the spray button a wee bit and only little drops will come out at the beginning. Do this a few more times until you have gold specked pumpkins. So easy, right??
I think they make for a unique dramatic Halloween touch and are so easy to whip up too. Fun thing is, that they can be easily transformed into orange or white pumpkins again, if desired! That’s what I love about spray paint!
