Girls room cozy corner

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by today! Let me show you my easy girls room cozy corner !

Girls room cozy corner/kreativk.net

Both my girls are sleeping in the Ikea Kura bed. It converts easily from a low bed into a high bed, simply, by turning it around! My older daughter uses it as a low bed and sofa at the same time, she hangs out with friends and it’s awesome. You can see it hereMy younger daughter still has it up high, because she really enjoys playing underneath. She mostly uses it for role play and has so much fun to hide in there!

For a while now, I’ve been wanting to change up the look of it underneath. I did hang curtains inside the frame just to hide away the blue part at the back of the one side, which really doesn’t go with the whole pinkish and white style in her room. So now, I’ve finally changed it up a bit more and made her a real cozy corner in there. All floors in our house are tile, so I put rugs and foam mats in the girls rooms to be warmer and more comfy when they play.

This is how it looked before. I started, by covering up the blue parts at the back of the bed. All I did here, was use gift wrapping paper that I measured, cut out and glued onto the blue parts.

Then, I exchanged the green foam tiles for pink ones and hung up a previously made paper garland, pom pom garland and a string of lights. The paper garland was super easy, I just cut out triangles in different card stock and glued the top on a piece of twine. The pom pom garland is just as easy, with a needle, I added different coloured pom pom’s on a thread.

And because a cozy corner wouldn’t be quite one without something to lay on or against, I added a lot of cushions to it! I did have the curtains before and they just make it even nicer to hide in there, which is what my daughter, and any kid probably, really loves!

This bed is so much fun and Amelie really enjoys it even more now with the lights and all. But you could easily do this with any high bed or just in a small spot in your kids bedroom using furniture and fabric to make a little cozy corner, hangout or such.

Anyways, this weekend she had a bunch of girlfriends over and had it converted into a pet hotel… they didn’t even wanna come out of there anymore 🙂 So much play fun!

Katrin, how cozy and pretty is this room? I would have loved it as a kid. They can each have their own space or share it and that’s so important. I would love to snuggle up with the lights on and read a book or watch a movie. And they both could be in there together too. Great job! It’s as pretty as the rest of your home!

Thanks Nikki! It’s quite lovely in there 😉 they do hang out under the bed together and the other night, Stella red a story to Amelie there when she wasn’t feeling great, made my heart grow big time! It was a super quick project but did so much for these two! 🙂

This is absolutely adorable! I love how it turned out and your color scheme and creativity is just fabulous. Kids need a space all their own, and this is just perfect for that, as well as keeping it still a place you can keep track of them too. The decorations and way you arranged it feeds and sparks the girls imagination, which is a wonderful gift you have given them for life!

I love that! I want to do something like that for my 9 year old son but since he shares his room with his older brother, and I don’t have a lot of money to buy two separate beds, they share a bunk bed. I’ve been trying to figure out how to utilize their room and decorate it in a way that suits both boys. I love how you decorated your little one’s room! Popping over from #waywow Facebook

Thanks so much Michelle! How fun though, that your sons share a room, I’ve been wanting to do that with the girls, so they can have one playroom, but they are 4 years apart and the older one really sometimes has other interests and wants her room to herself. But they do hang out.

Hi friend, what is it about kids and ‘forts’ or hiding places…both of mine just loved having small spaces to hang with friends or to be alone. This was such a clever and ‘girl-ified’ way to achieve that fort. What I wouldn’t do to be small enough to curl up under there with a book …so cozy and fun with the lights and banner! You hit that one out of the park my friend.

Hugs and wishes for a great day, Lynn

Katrin, you did a wonderful job making your girl’s space into something beautiful and fun!! Love the comfort of sweetness of their room!! It’s so nice to hear that your kiddo had so much fun playing in her little cubby with her friends! You did a great job turning this into a fun place to retreat and relax!! 🙂

This is such a girly girl corner Katrin! I love all the warm colors and the pillows. The use of gift wrapping paper to hide the blue was very smart. And it looks so great, much more high end than paper. I also like the curtains for a cozy feel. My girls have a bunk bed and they used to do the same exact thing. We had all these elaborate curtains to hide so they could play and have privacy. Girls are always the same. Love it!! Oh and the pink hanging light fixture is very pretty, you’ll have to do a post on that too.

Thank you Mary! Amelie is really happy with this and yes, girls will be girls, one day it’s a reading corner, one day a hide out, the next all the dolls live there or it’s a pet clinic…:) So much fun, hey? I could just sit there and watch her play all day 🙂
