Girls personalized Ikea Desk

Desk

Can you believe it’s back to school time? Wow.

My girls still have like a week and a bit to go, until we’ll be back to the routine of getting up early, homework, studying and all that. I’m a little sad, because it means the summer is almost over. Well, the time OFF that is. Because the heat will go on for a while longer. The summer they’ve been waiting for all year, basically, has come to an end and they will have to go to school all day and I know it will be hard for them. I know as well, that they “need” to go back, because it does get boring for them after such a long time off. Oh Changes! I love them but I do get a little melancholic about them too. Weird.

So, to make the whole back to school – end of summer – thing a bit nicer, a bit more fun, a bit happier and exciting, I’ve gotten my little, big, girl, who will be going into grade 1, a desk for her room. From Ikea. I know, I just can’t help it. As much as I love to upcycle old or used stuff, I love Ikea and what you can get for your money and do with it. Plus, it’s just so hot out still, that I am not in a big-paint-project- mood right now.  So this is what I came up with. A super fast, easy and yet cute project to personalize my daughters Ikea desk.

I bought the Ikea Micke Desk in white. Amelie thought it was “boring” lol.

So basically, all I did was decorate it with stickers from the Dollarstore and also Ikea, and Washi Tape. Yes. I know. Too easy probably. But I love how it turned out.

And most important: Amelie is so proud of it and loves it too! She sits at her desk and organizes the drawer with stuff she “needs” and I think, I made the back to school dread a little bit nicer and fun to look forward to for her.  And that’s all I wanted to do!!! Mission accomplished!!!

Katrin, This is very cute and not boring at all. I’m sure your daughter will be happy using it. It is so important to make their room feel like it’s really their own.
