Farmhouse Chair Makeover Using Chalky Paint

farmhouse chair makeover using chalky paint kreativk.net

This chair has seen quite a bit! My parents in-law bought it years ago at a garage sale in Canada, if I´m not wrong…. And then, when we lived there, they wanted to get rid of it and we needed extra chairs, so I took it, because I loved the charm it had then. It was white at that point! I cannot believe I spray painted it grey. It was one of those grey phases I had I guess. Anyways, I love the shape and look and so we took it all the way to Spain. So the other day I decided that it had been grey for way too long and it needed to be white again, showing that original charm it had back then. Here´s my farmhouse chair makeover using chalky paint!

This is how this lovely piece looked after I abused it with grey spray paint. Sorry chair, but I wasn´t in the farmhouse state of mind then.

I think it looked a bit bla and sad, don´t you? Well, I´m glad it got  it´s farmhouse groove back!

All I did was give it about 3 coats of white chalky finish paint, distress and seal it with clear wax.

I´m so happy with it and all it´s charm, white just makes everything look happy and bright I think. The boring grey peeks through and makes it look interesting. Maybe I will strip it down to it´s bones one day, I think it would look amazing like that and will then actually be finally the chair it used to be one day…

Wishing you a fabulous day, Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Katrin, the chair looks wonderful with the farmhouse makeover you gave It! It is a very charming chair and I can see why you brought it to Spain with you.

Well done! You do amazing things with that washy paint. This little chair looks ready to join the grownups at the table. Love the previous color peeking through the light distressing, gives it character. Older furniture was built to last and is usually worth giving some new life to it. Thank-you for sharing !
