Easy Rope Ladder Trellis For The Garden

I made this cute and easy rope ladder trellis for the garden a while back and wanted to share it today. Last week was super busy and I didn’t get anything done basically, so I am happy I have this little project for ya! It is really easy but looks super cute!

I am so into gardening this year, I don’t want to brag, but so far everything is still looking green around here. That makes me so happy. But our cute but naughty bunnies have to stick their little noses into everything and like to nibble on almost every plant. Right. So I have cacti and such on the ground, because they obviously don’t like those, but everything else has to be somewhere high up. And that’s where this hanging rope ladder trellis comes in handy!

What you need for the rope ladder:

white cotton rope

unfinished wooden dowels

It’s pretty easy and the photos basically explain themselves. Cut the rope about 2.5 m long. Make a knot in the middle like shown on the second photo. This is the top where you will hang your ladder from. Make loops on each side and put the dowels into each loop, like shown below. Once the dowel was put into each loop, I added another knot on top.

Repeat for each dowel.

The planters:

galvanized metal pots

wire

wire cutter

I got my galvanized planters at Ikea for 0.50€ each. They work great, because the wire stays put and can’t slide over the top.

Cut a piece of wire and twist it around the pot like shown on the photos. Then twist it around the dowel on the ladder.

There is a little rosemary bush underneath it…

Here where we live it is always very windy, so I added some hooks to the sides of the ladder to keep it in place.

You know, I have no idea what kind of plants these are. My neighbor asked me if I wanted them and they were just perfect for this hanging ladder trellis. I never asked her, but maybe you know?

The one below looks like a succulent, don’t you think??

I hope they wrap themselves around this trellis and grow!

Well, this is it for today, I hope you like my hanging ladder! Do you have any other ideas on how to decorate it or what to use it for? Maybe wrap a fairy light around it?

Thank you for stopping by today, it’s much appreciated!

I have a garden shed wall facing the full sun and was wondering how to showcase some greenery. This rope ladder trellis would be perfect for that. Very creative.

Once again, your kreativity produces something decorative and useful! I love easy and this is easy at it’s easiest…that makes it perfect for me. I can think of many other practical uses for this rope ladder trellis. I just need to purchase some white rope right away. Thank-you!

Katrin this is so pretty and a wonderful way to showcase the greenery. I’m sure it will look even better when they start to spread. Isn’t it amazing how you can make the nicest things from simple materials?

Beautiful Katrin and such a great idea to keep plants safe from those bunnies 😀 That middle one is definitely a succulent. It looks like an ice plant, we call them vygies here in South Africa. Hopefully she’ll make loads of flowers too.

This would be totally adorable in a kitchen for herbs or even utensils, or the bathroom for accessories, etc!
