Easy nautical lantern deco using ropes

Easy nautical lantern deco using ropes 1

Oh no, another 5 minute deco idea….. said noone ever! I love 5 minute decor and easy and quick and simple and what you want to call it! But you know that by now and oh well, here’s another one! Check out this easy nautical lantern deco using ropes!

Remember these babies?? The lanterns that got a quick restyle not too long ago became my victims once again!

I had a lot of rope as you can see…. a lot of it! I had used some for the nautical style rope jars, I made the other day. I wanted some blue rope as well, but the only one I could find at the store was plastic and didn’t look nice at all. So I just dyed some of this rope blue. With acrylic paint and water. I just soaked the cut rope in the acrylic/water mix and then squeezed it out a bit and let it dry in the sun. That probably took longer than the whole deco mini project itself.

I cut off parts of rope and also some yute rope to have a different texture and rolled it all up over my hand as if you were rolling up yarn or something similar. Then I stretched it out a bit, loosening it all up and just put it inside each lantern.

It’s probably not even worth a post almost, cause it is that easy and simple, but I just wanted to share it with you cause I’m so happy with how it looks! Really different and nautical!

Have a great day!!!

You amaze me. I love how effortless your style is, and that you can take something and turn it into a really cool accent piece. The different types of rope make this so interesting, the different textures and colors. Love that color blue! It looks great against the white of the lanterns! LOVE this!

It does look very summery and nautical. I like how you were able to use three different types of rope. It has loads of texture and that is what makes it interesting. Katrin, I think you’re hooking me on these 5-minute projects.
