DIY paper birds

Happy Friday Friends!!! I am in London, England right now, but I do have this fun post for you today! With spring on it’s way, I have started decorating for it, and the other day, I made these easy DIY paper birds! I don’t know, if you remember the branch I hung above my dining room table by the big window, last fall. During the Christmas season, I decorated it with ornaments and now, for spring, I really felt like hanging something from it as well. These DIY paper birds seemed just right!

I’ve seen really nice book page projects and thought, I’d give it a try with these birds as well. I had some old, already read books ready to be used for this. But first, I glued about 3 to 4 pages together, to make the birds a little more stable. I also had other, really spring~looking flower card stock that I also wanted to use for this. So, when the pages were all dried up and stuck together, I traced a very simple bird silhouette on both, the flower paper and the book pages. I had a little wooden bird that I used for tracing.

I cut them out and pinched a thin golden wire through the top of each bird, to hang them on the branch with. That was all! I only put them on the one side of the branch, as I didn’t want to have them all over. Less is more, you gotta know when to stop! So here I stopped! This was a fun and easy craft and looks really nice, I think. I’ll be showing some more spring decor soon!

How fresh and spring-like! These birds look great hanging from the branch in the window. The papers that you have used really set them apart and they look cool hanging next to the sheer curtains. And I’m really liking the wire you are using to hang them, so thin and delicate.

You know how I’m all for easy and quick and fuss~less… so this is one of those things that happen in a morning or so. That window is so hard to decorate cause it’s sooooo big and bright.

Hi Katrin, these birds are chirping ‘spring’! So simple, but so creative and they make a great spring-y impact. And hanging them from your branch is just perfect. Like a little flock of birds fluttering in a try. You have got to believe that spring is right around the corner when you spy this little guys.
    Wonderful, as usual.

Hope you are enjoying your trip…getting your last little bit of winter in!

    Hugs, Lynn

Very pretty Katrin, like having your own birds in the house without the hassle of having to feed them and clean the bird cage. I hope you checked the writing on the pages and didn’t get into battles like I did. Have a fantastic time my friend.
