Christmas decor easily changed up for winter

It’s Monday the 9th and that means back to school and back to work in this house! Maybe for you too? Well, I’ve had two weeks off and I really enjoyed those with my family, but also for myself by doing what I love, which is to decorate & create! This year we put out the tree right after Christmas, like on the 26th of December, because it was getting so dry and we were going to be away for a bit anyways. Well, when we had it out, I kinda got into the whole winter decorating mood and honestly, I redecorated our home quickly in a few hours and that includes cleaning!  If you don’t have much time for doing a lot of winter decoration, then this post is for you! I wanted to show you my Christmas decor easily changed up for winter! I didn’t spend any money, just used what I had!

This is my cabinet door hanging on my entrance wall. I took down the Christmas decor and simply wrote on it with a thick marker. You can find it decorated for Christmas here.

I re-used my Advent candles for this winterly center piece on my coffee table. See the Advent Candles here.

This mirror looked like this dressed up for Christmas. I took down the lights and mini wreaths and only added some small sticks to the jars.

This is how my cabinet top looked like a few weeks back decorated for the holidays. Now, I changed out the deer printable for one of the printables from my new store.

I used some of the greenery I already had up for Christmas in jars and also two more candles from my Advent Candles, as well as two wood slices to put the candles on. The antler is a real one that was given to me the other day by my friend. It’s from a deer that dropped them and it was found in the woods by her brother! I was so happy, because she didn’t want it and she actually gave me a second huge one as well! I painted this one white.

And here is the bigger antler that I simply placed on my dining room table in front of a crate filled with two jars of pine branches I had also up during Christmas, but in a different jar and different spot. Sometimes all you have to do, is change the spot and a little detail and it seems like a whole new decor!

This is how my dining room table looked before all decorated for Christmas. I now moved the terrarium that I had filled with pine cones onto my Ikea Bekvam step stool.

I had pine branches in a crate on my sofa side table for the holidays here

Now those branches are on my dining room table [above] in the same crate but styled differently and I simply put branches in a tall glass jar on my side table instead. I got that crocheted little basket at the broken section at Ikea a while ago for 1 Euro. There’s nothing wrong with it and it looks great for winter I think. I know some of my blogger friends could crochet this in like a minute or so…well. not me. unfortunately.

And this is my winter decor for now! It’s so simple, nordic and really cozy I think. Hope you got some inspiration today! Are you all done with your winter decor or do you maybe still have your Christmas tree up??

Katrin, I have learned so much this season from your posts, I really love the simplistic approach to your Nordic decor. You tie it all together so well, the white with the elements of nature feel so comforting and cozy. Not cold and bare like I would assume an almost all white interior would be. Looking forward to adding more simplicity to our home following your examples. I love your style.

Classy and beautiful as always Katrin. The whole look just oozes stylish elegance. Those deer antlers are so amazing. I never knew they drop them, that’s such a lucky find and your friend gave it to the perfect person who could make it work. Wishing you have a warm and safe Winter.

Katrin, your home is always so beautiful!! That’s so cool that you got real antlers to use for decorating. I love the printable!! I’m glad you had a wonderful holiday season with family!! I hope work is going well. I don’t have my tree up anymore but I haven’t really decorated for winter unless you count one snowman, lol.

Katrinit is such a nice transition into winter. And you kept the warmth that is sometimes lacking when we take the Christmas stuff down. Those antlers were quite the find. I’ve never seen any real ones. I also think the addition of the wood pieces and the twigs adds lots of coziness and warmth too. Happy Winter and here’s hoping you have a great rest of the school year.

Thank you Mary! Warmth is what i want this time of year, it really cooled down and it is winter, even in Spain! I was a bit sad that the Holidays are over for now, but when I walked into school this morning and my little ones were all so happy to be there and to see me, all was good!

The deer antlers are simply beautiful, what a wonderful gift from your friend! I really love how easily you were able to transition the Christmas decor to winter. How very kreative of you to use the same elements in a different way. It is minimal, yet elegant. The Advent candles in the jars are lovely. We had 8 inches of snow on Saturday, so I used the time to pack away Christmas and transition to winter decor. The tree is still up though, I wasn’t ready to lose it yet! My tree doesn’t go up until Christmas Eve, a tradition from my own childhood. It usually comes down after The Epiphany, so it’s only up about two weeks. Thank-you for this delightful post, as always. P.S. I absolutely love the “Be Kind” printable. I always told my children that while you can be anything it is most important to be kind.

I am so happy about the antlers as I was looking for some for quite some time now and here they don’t really sell any fake ones or similar… they came in really handy and at the right time. Ellen I would have the tree up still, if it didn’t dry so quickly, but we also put it up already at the End of November… blogging schedules, haha. In Germany we always had our tree up not earlier than two or three days before Christmas Eve and then up until the middle of January almost. Thank you for your kind comments always! and yes, I absolutely agree, being kind goes a long way!

    Hello Katrin,
when I put the Christmas decorations away there always seems to be a gap. Too soon for spring decorations, I’m not into “Karnaval”, now what?… I always kind off run out of ideas. Got plenty of those now – thanks to you!!!
    Thank you!
