5 minute Fairy Lights lantern decor

Can you believe we’re in the last full week of October already? Next Monday is Halloween and then we’re in November …. just like that, wow. Well, it’s still Fall, but we’re kind of coming closer and closer to the holidays, so I thought I’d show you my 5 minute fairy lights lantern decor! I’m loving fairy lights everywhere this time of year and these will still be lovely during Christmas I think.

If you’ve followed along for a bit, you’ll remember my Ikea lanterns, and how I’ve styled them differently each season. During the summer, I was into the nautical style and decorated them using ropes. Earlier in the spring, I gave them a quick restyle with faux plants. The fun of this is, that all of this took no longer than 5 minutes, same with this one!

I love, how I can get a totally different look and vibe, by quickly changing the inside of these lantern. So for this 5 minute fairy lights lantern decor, it was no different.

I had the fairy lights at hand and just arranged them inside the lanterns. I decorated my Ikea Bekvam step stool with them and added this dried out wild artichoke I found out in the country at our weekend getaway. It was everywhere and I think it looks so beautiful! Plus, it gives the whole decor a Fall vibe, don’t you think?

This is how they look at night… For the holiday season I will simply take out the dried plant and add a little holiday detail to the step stool I think… but there’s still some time to go, so for now it’ll stay like this.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

I am a huge fan of string lights and they look really great in your lanterns. I think they add a romantic look where ever they are used. I have colored Christmas string lights above my kitchen cabinets, nestled in the decor. When we have friends over I plug them in, it makes the house cheerful and warm.

I love the price on these lights too, and that they don’t need a plug! I need a few strands!

Katrin, these lanterns with the lights in them look so pretty!! I really like the idea of using Christmas lights in home decor for all year round. I like the dried out artichoke in the jar. You’re right it does give it a fall feel to the scene. It looks great Katrin!!

Your Ikea lanterns are winners in every season and I have them too! I will “borrow” this idea for mine. I really love the dried wild artichokes- amazing!! Everything arranged on the Ikea stool looks perfect, I need one of those. Thank-you for this lovely post, as always.

Hey, how fun Ellen that you’ve got the same lanterns! I love them and as you know by now, like rearranging them each change of season pretty much. Thanks so much for your visit, I appreciate it! The stepstool is fun too!

The lantern is so pretty all by itself and by adding the lights you make it so much prettier. Just the perfect amount of warmth for a chilly fall day.

They did look great when it was pouring outside the other day and me next to them on the sofa with a hot coffee! 😉 Thanks Mary 🙂

    Hello Katrin,
this is such a lovely idea! As it seems we’ll not be able to decorated our living room much (all stuff from the basement appartment etc. is still standing around and we’ll not be able to fix floodingdamages before Christmas), these would look lovely and brighten things up a bit. By the time Christmas is getting near I could put some of the Christmasbaubles inside… Thank you for sharing this idea with us! It’s simple but absolutely brilliant and lovely!
    Enjoy the new week,
    Marjan

Danke Marjan!! I hope that your flooding damages will be fixed soon for you! Die Laternen sehen bestimmt auch mit Weihnachtskugeln toll aus, kann ich mir richtig vorstellen!!
