5 min. Ikea lantern restyle

Today I wanted to share this really quick and simple 5 min. Ikea lantern restyle with you! Yes, it really only takes 5 minutes and you might even have everything at home already!

5 min. Ikea Lantern restyle kreativk.net

I had bought these Ikea lanterns a while back and used them in my fireplace with candles in them. Now, that the fireplace is covered up, I had an idea of how to restyle these lanterns a little bit. And it really only took me 5 minutes to do so!

I’m gonna be honest with you, I’m super happy about fast, lazy, get~done~in~no~time~ decor and not always in the mood or have time for huge time consuming projects. I mean, not that I ever had a huge project, but there are some, where there’s paint involved, that needs to dry overnight, so when I came up with this, I knew, it was going to be something quick and still give me the decor fix, if ya know what I mean! And look kinda pretty too!

So, back to my 5 min. Ikea Lantern restyle! I grabbed:

~ small rocks

~ some faux fern leaves and a faux succulent

~ two empty glass jars

I filled the jars with the rocks and then stuck the succulent in one and the fern leaves into the other! I then placed the jars inside the lanterns! Done!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Tomorrow I’ll be posting something fun and I’m super excited about it, that’s why Pretty Pics Thursday has to wait another week! Be sure to stop by! Happy Wednesday!!!

You are always so creative when decorating Katrin!! I would need to spend some time with you to learn, I have some lanterns and can’t think of anything that are not candles… Do the succulents survive with rocks, or do they need some soil?

    • Katrin
      13/05/2016 at 09:47

Hi Pili, these are faux, not real succulents and the fern leaves are fake as well, so no need to worry, lol! Even easier! Thanks for the visit, you’re so sweet! 🙂

These are so fresh, fun, and different. I love all the textures from the Sleek metal of the lantern to The Rusticness of the rocks. And the greenery looks perfect. It catches your eye and creates a lightness of spring. Love this, great job!

Hi Katrin, at first glance I did think the lanterns were shelving (my eyes aren’t what they were!). I really like the clever way you’ve adapted the lanterns to be more ornamental and they look perfectly simple. Very nice.

Thanks so much Debbie, I think it’s fun having something green in them, I like to use them as lanterns as well, but you know, a little change is great sometimes! 🙂

    Hey there…
My tables are looking quite bare lately and these lanterns would had that certain something. Hey…did you notice that the jar with the rocks and the succulent looks a bit like pineapple? Just realized that.
Katrin, you have such a lovely, simple and clean style…just very refreshing! I think it’s be so relaxing and spa-like in your home.
    Thanks for continuing to inspire.
    Hugs, Lynn
p.s. Hitting the road to go gather Kate and all her belonging from school in 1/2 hour! yippee! Now I’ll have a girl back in my home…I’ve been missing that karma that a daughter brings.

      04/05/2016 at 16:24

Now that you’ve mentioned it, it does look like a pineapple, lol! Ha! Cool! My home is relaxing in the morning, when there’s no noise and just peace and yes, that. Then when the girls come the fun begins! And that’s ok. but not much spa~feeling then, lol! Bookbags, dirty socks and stuff everywhere… you know. Oh I can imagine how lovely it will be to have Kate back at home! Daughters are fun, hey? I’m sure sons as well, but like you put it, it must be a different karma! Enjoy Lynn and have a safe drive!!!
