Quick Side Table Makeover

Quick Side Table Makeover [kreativk.net] 1

Today I’d like to show you this quick side table makeover guys!

Quick Side Table Makeover [kreativk.net]

This little side table was my first Kijiji purchase in Canada. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Kijiji, it’s like craigslist, an online second hand market and it’s fabulous!! Well, we had just moved to Canada, and I had a beautiful and big, partly covered front porch to decorate and was looking for a little porch table. It was fall and I wanted to put our huge, carved pumpkin on it.

It was $5 on Kijiji and painted in a very pale orange, perfect for my fall porch! I loved it but our car hadn’t arrived yet so I asked the lady in a message if she could deliver it and I’d pay $10 for it. I really wanted that table. That lovely lady dropped off this table at my doorstep and she didn’t want to accept the $10, she took $5 and wished me fun with the table! I was so so happy and wanted to invite her in for a coffee, but yeah, she went on her merry way. It would have been a bit strange maybe to go into a strangers house to have a cup of coffee, but I was so freakin happy and thankful that that’s what came out of my mouth…. So that’s the story of my little table. I don’t have a photo of it then unfortunately.

So I decorated away with it. It was in great shape too. After fall came winter and you know what that means… it got wet… a lot … and was going to be ending up in the garbage, so I took it inside and gave it a really quick sanding and painted it with grey paint and added some stencils. I had it in my mud room then.

After a while, it got crowded in the mudroom and my daughter needed a bedside table, and this table was the perfect size! I gave the legs another coat of white/grey paint and covered the top with a fun fabric from Ikea. She loved it!

The other day, she decided, that she was way to old for this kind of table and did not want it in her room anymore. My younger daugher Amelie wanted it, but there just isn’t enough space in her already crowded room, so I decided, to give it a little make over and make it mine again! And I’m so freakin happy about it. I have it right next to my armchair and it’s just perfect for that spot, great to hold my cup of coffee!

I took off the fabric, sanded it over and then painted it with chalky finish paint, distressed it a bit here and there and at the end gave it a coat of wax. Tah-dah!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I’m so happy you did and I hope you like this little side table as much as I do! As you can see, there’s no need to spend a ton on furniture and with just a little paint you can use one piece of furniture, like my side table, for different purposes! I wonder if that nice lady imagined that this side table would last so long in our family!

You table has a lovely farmhouse vibe with those sweet, tapered legs. Love the simplicity of the the white, esp. Great “makeover.” Thanks for linking up both your posts with us at Vintage Charm 🙂

Katrin, I love all the versions of this little table! It sure has been worth way more than $5. If the lady who sold it to you knew she’d be back to have that cup of coffee, and she’d want you to teach her how to be so creative! LOL

I love how this looks, in your pretty white living area. The plants are the perfect touch. I can imagine that it will be a great side table as you look over homework or lesson plans!

What a fun story of your table! I can understand your happiness when the lady delivered it, and I’m sure it can tell a lot of stories both from your house and the previous one.
You made it look pretty with chalk paint and the distressed edges.

Aww, what a sweet history that little table has. I love reading about the history of furniture. They become part of the family. I love all of the stages it went through. But now it is back to you and y ou have made it elegant. Now where is your coffee cup?

The white side table looks great next to your chair! I can just imagine how nice it must be to have a pretty surface to rest your books and coffee. I really like the distressed look you gave it.
