Canvas Sign with Metallic Markers

Home

Another canvas! But this time no stencils…this time: Metallic Markers. Silver & Golden ones! And I think I fell in love again! They are so pretty and so easy~going… what’s not to love???

I bought this big canvas and wanted to handwrite a sign. With the markers. I kinda also fell in love with signs and quotes on signs and all that. So much love going on! Wow.

1.First, I painted the canvas in an off white tone, but just very roughly, because it was so white. Too white, so I wanted it to look a little dirtier or well used, something like that.

2. Then, I printed my quote in my favourite fonts, cut out each word and placed it on the canvas.

3. I traced them with a very sharp pencil. This way, they get copied onto the soft canvas easily and after I only had to trace them again on the canvas. I did that with pencil as well, then overwrote everything with my beautiful markers! Yay!

4. I doodled on the sides and on the right side, cause I had a lot of space left somehow. You could also print out a flower or favourite garnish to trace it the same way onto the canvas as the words, if you don’t just want to doodle away like that.

5. After all that, I grabbed a can of white spray paint and slightly sprayed over the sign, but not over every word. Like this, the words are metallic on some parts and matte on others. I love how it turned out and as usual my photos don’t do it justice, it looks so much better hanging here…

I love how much fun you have! Lately it seems that the only time I do something creative I have a time table or a schedule to get it accomplished. I don’t think I do things just to do them. Just for the fun and enjoyment of creating something beautiful. I love that you have that, and I can see the love and joy you have for creating a beautiful home for you and your family!

Aww, this is so seriously adorable. That is my motto too. So you made it without stencils which makes sense, and with the copy machine. Have to fix that machine. it is giving me trouble. I really like the doodles too, it balances out the page.
