3 Easy Holiday Garlands

holiday garlands

We’re getting closer and closer to Christmas. Isn’t it the most wonderful time of the year? In case you haven’t started decorating yet and are looking for an easy way to do so, here I’m sharing how to make 3 easy holiday garlands. They are in fact done in one afternoon! With kids or without you can wrap them around your X~mas tree or hang them on a wall, window, maybe on a wreath…They are fun and cost nothing if you have a few items at hand. What’s not to like!

Nr. 1: Washi tape Garland

Washi tape garland making  washi tape garland cutting

This one is so easy, just cut strips of washi tape and stick them around a thread. Cut the tips and that’s it!

All you need is:

~ washi tape

~ thread & scissors

Nr.2: Golden triangles Garland

shapes   triangles glue

This garland is very easy as well, takes a little more time than the one before. I used golden cardboard and gray cardboard and cut the golden one into little triangles and the gray one into small squares. Then, I glued the shapes onto a thread. Done!

All you need is:

~ golden and gray cardboard or scrap booking paper

~ scissors, glue & thread

Nr. 3: Paper Pom Pom Garland

paper pom poms   paper pom poms sewpaper pom poms sew 2   paper pom pom fold    paper pom pom done

This garland takes a little bit more time but is quite easy as well! First I cut out circles, using different kinds of holiday scrap booking paper. I layered three of each kind and had all together 7 packs. Using my sewing machine, I sewed each pack of three onto a thread with a zic zac stitch. After that I separated the circles folding them over the middle to make them 3D. Done!

All you need:

~ scrap booking paper in different styles

~ sewing machine

~ thread & scissors

And that’s it friends! There you got 3 Easy Holiday Garlands to decorate your walls, windows or tree with for this special time of year!

As you could also see in my second Holiday Home Tour, I decorated our stairs with an evergreen garland and added these two to it! I love how it looks!

I love how you create things with the simplest items and they turn out so adorable! I love how these look running down the stair rail! Did the girls help you with these? I bet they love them. The idea may look simple, but they came together beautifully. Mine would look like my kids put them together. I’m not as crafty as you!!!

These look really nice and I love how there’s a really super simple idea right up to something a little more complicated. You are right. You can make these very easily with just a few bits that perhaps you may have around the house anyway.

These look so effective and festive. I love the pompom one, but don’t have a sewing machine. I think I could just about do a good job of the washi tape garland though, that’s really cute. Well done!

Hi Robyn!! The washi tape one was super easy! And maybe you could staple the pom pom one, instead of sewing! Thanks so much for reading – I appreciate it so much!

Love the geometric garland, very eye catching! And thank you for showing a close up of the stitches you used for the circle garland. I never would have thought to use a zig zag stitch over the twine. All so beautiful!

Hello Katrin, I think I am going to try my hand at the paper pom pom garland. I love them all, but the pom pom one really spoke to me. And we are some garland making fools lately, aren’t we? I do have one last spot that I’d like to adorn with garland, now just need to get it done before the holidays. Once I get through tomorrow, I’m going to be all Christmas, all the time. So I hope to get it done then.
Thanks for sharing your great ideas with the rest of us!

    Kisses, Lynn

I absolutely love them. And they would look so cool in my girls rooms. I can color coordinate them so they match the rooms. You know what Katrin, you can use them all year long if they are the right colors. Thanks for the great tutorials!
